Moodle Boot Camp for Instructors and Course Creators

These two day training sessions being offered around the country, are designed for teachers and business trainers who would like to learn more about Moodle’s features and how to implement them effectively.

The primary goal of the first day of training is to introduce participants to Moodle. The training will begin with a brief overview of Moodle. This overview will be followed by a guided tour of Moodle's most popular features and tools from the perspective of the learner. As the first day comes to a close, participants will create the shell of their own “sandbox” course. Topics included on the first day will be: Creating and editing your Moodle profile, hands on experience with the top five Moodle modules – Assignment, Choice, Forum, Quiz and Resource, and defining your course settings using blocks, topic summaries and labels to customize your course.

On the second day, the focus will be learning to create several of the most frequently used Moodle activities. Strategies and resources for good course design will be presented through the course of the day. Training will conclude with a discussion of rapid course development prototyping and review of the resources available to participants following the training. Topics included on the second day will be: Creating resources to link to web pages as well as electronic files, building assignments, quizzes and discussion forums, managing learners and a discussion of other Moodle tools based on needs of participants.

Note: If you have materials that you would like to use as you start to build your Moodle course, please bring them (in an electronic format) as you can use them when we add sample activities.

Please bring your laptop computer for this hands-on training.

This training will be held at New Horizons Computer Learning Center - this is 15 miles from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Class will begin at 8:30am to 4:30pm, with an hour and a half on your own for lunch. There is a list of nearby restaurants and hotels on the brochure for New Horizons.

The cost for this two day workshop is $395 per person.

Note: This training will not address administrative Moodle tasks such as user authentication, site set up, themes, etc. Please check our website for the next available Administrator workshop. This training is geared toward teachers and course creators who will be building content and facilitating student activity.
