ELIS is an acronym for Remote-Learner’s Enterprise Learning Intelligence Suite for Moodle. ELIS was built in response to the needs of our clients who require an enterprise level of functionality that Moodle does not offer on its own. ELIS is not an add-on to Moodle; Moodle is part of ELIS. ELIS is a suite of learning applications that allows an organization to manage its entire learning enterprise. ELIS core can be supplemented with options needed to support learners in K-12, Corporate and Higher Education learning environments. ELIS consists of five core systems, integrating seamlessly with each other and Moodle:
- Program Manager
- Notification Manager
- Outcomes Manager
- Reports Manager
- Repository Manager
Program Manager
Standard Moodle is "course-centric" with users being managed course-by-course and reports generated course-by-course, leaving the Moodle administrator with a limited ability to see a big picture view of student progress. Program Manager overcomes this limitation by allowing administrators to track learner progress in entire curricula or learning programs. It also allows the administrator to generate and keep learner transcripts independent of Moodle.
Program Manager gives administrators the ability to create site wide groups of users called Clusters. For example, groups can be created based on user location, supervisor, job role, academic department or discipline and more. These groups can be populated manually or through custom profile fields in Moodle and then used to track the group’s progress and/or enroll them in curricula. Cluster leaders can be assigned to these groups to have access to the reports specific to their Cluster or group. The use of Clusters can greatly simplify many of Moodle’s administrative tasks. Remote-Learner's Integration Point feature can automate enrollments from an SIS or HR system.
Program Manager offers functionality to define and track learning activities from all learning venues, including:
- Schedule Online, Classroom, Blended and Synchronous Webinar Courses
- Establish Site-wide Group Clusters
- Create Learning Plans
- Manage Completions with Transcripts
- Automate User Account Creation and Enrollments
Administrators can bring in off-line course work or learning programs and manage and track them with their Moodle courses. These “outside” courses will become a part of student transcripts and will be reported on accordingly.
Notification Manager
Notification Manager provides administrator with a mechanism to send out automatic notifications on specific events that occur within Moodle. For example, a notification can be sent out when a user enrolled in a course. This notification is sent out via Moodle Messages, which will then go to the user’s designated email address if they are not logged into Moodle at the time the notification went out. Notifications can be automated for:
- Class Enrollment
- Class Completion
- Class Not Started
- Number Days After Enrollment
- Class Not Completed
- Number of Days Before Class Ends
- Curriculum Completed
- Curriculm Not Completed
- Number Days Before Curriculum Ends
- Track Enrollment
- Course Recurrence
- Number Days Before Course Recurs
- Admin Specific messages
Outcomes Manager
Outcomes Manager is a feature unique to ELIS and takes learning technology to a new level of significance. Finally, specific learning outcomes defined within a state standard of learning, job or professional competency map or other learning taxonomy can be applied within Moodle at the course, activity and even sub-set activity level. Once standardized outcomes are applied in Outcomes Manager administrators can view reports in Report Manager that clearly show evidence of learning, with the benefit of being able to make data-driven decisions. Outcomes Manager can define:
- Map State Standards of Learning
- Map job competency requirements
- Map professional certification requirements
- Map succession management requirements
Reports Manager
- My User Report
- Users report
- Course Completion by Cluster
